He was renowned for his powerful preaching and extensive tracts. The author of a much-loved two-volume Matthew commentary that he revised and expanded in 2007, Frederick Dale Bruner now offers The Gospel of John: A Commentary â€" the fruit of his lifetime of study and teaching. Rather than relying mainly on recent scholarship, Bruner’s approach honors and draws from the church’s major John commentators th! roughout history, including Augustine, Chrysostom, Aquinas, Luther, Calvin, Henry, Bultmann, Barrett, and more.

Added to this “historical interpretation” is Bruner’s “contemporary interpretation,” which incorporates a clear translation of the text, references to major recent scholarship, and Bruner’s personal application of the Gospel to his own experience. Rich in biblical insights, ecumenical in tone, broadly historical, deeply theological, and lovingly written, Bruner’s Gospel of John promises to be an invaluable resource for pastors and teachers.Carson states he is trying to explain the text of Johns Gospel to those who minister the Word of God to others, either by preaching or by leading Bible studies. It can be used by those laypeople who want personal growth. He looks at the flow of the text; The first edition of The Gospel According to Jesus won wide acclaim in confronting the 'easy-believism' that has characterized some aspects of evangelica! l Christianity. Over the past 50 years, a handful of books hav! e become true classics, revered world-wide for their crystal-clear presentation of the Gospel and lauded for their contribution to the Christian faith. These extraordinary books are read, re-read, and discussed in churches, Bible study groups, and homes everywhere. John MacArthur's The Gospel According to Jesus is one of those books. In The Gospel According to Jesus, MacArthur tackles the idea of 'easy believism,' challenging Christians to re-evaluate their commitment to Christ by examining their fruits. MacArthur asks, 'What does it really mean to be saved?' He urges readers to understand that their conversion was more than a mere point in time, that, by definition, it includes a lifetime of obediently walking with Jesus as Lord. This 20th anniversary edition of MacArthur's provocative, Scripture-based book contains one new chapter and is further revised to provide Christians in the 21st century a fresh perspective on the intrinsic relationship between faith and works, clearly rev! ealing Why Jesus is both Savior and Lord to all who believe.

Bambi (Two-Disc Diamond Edition Blu-ray/DVD Combo in Blu-ray Packaging)

  • BAMBI:DIAMOND EDITION BLU-RAY IN BD (BLU-RAY DISC)
For the first time ever, the wonder, music and majesty of one of Walt Disney's greatest triumphs comes alive in glorious detail through the magic of Blu-ray high definition! Now Bambi, Walt Disney's beloved coming-of-age story, will thrill a new generation of fans with its breathtakingly beautiful animation, soaring music and characters who will touch your heart-Bambi, the wide-eyed fawn, his playful pal Thumper, the loveable skunk Flower and wise Friend Owl. Plus, all-new immersive game and special features that reveal the extraordinary creative process behind the making of this timeless classic take you deeper into Bambi's world than ever before.

Walt Disney's Bambi is an experience you will never forget-now more brilliant than ever on Blu-ray.

It always comes up when people are comparing their most traumatic movie experiences:! "the death of Bambi's mother," a recollection that can bring a shudder to even the most jaded filmgoer. That primal separation (which is no less stunning for happening off-screen) is the centerpiece of Bambi, Walt Disney's 1942 animated classic, but it is by no means the only bold stroke in the film. In its swift but somehow leisurely 69 minutes, Bambi covers a year in the life of a young deer. But in a bigger way, it measures the life cycle itself, from birth to adulthood, from childhood's freedom to grown-up responsibility. All of this is rendered in cheeky, fleet-footed style--the movie doesn't lecture, or make you feel you're being fed something that's good for you. The animation is miraculous, a lush forest in which nature is a constantly unfolding miracle (even in a spectacular fire, or those dark moments when "man was in the forest"). There are probably easier animals to draw than a young deer, and the Disney animators set themselves a challenge with B! ambi's wobbly glide across an ice-covered lake, his spindly le! gs akimb o; but the sequence is effortless and charming. If Bambi himself is just a bit dull--such is the fate of an Everydeer--his rabbit sidekick Thumper and a skunk named Flower more than make up for it. Many of the early Disney features have their share of lyrical moments and universal truths, but Bambi is so simple, so pure, it's almost transparent. You might borrow a phrase from Thumper and say it's downright twitterpated. --Robert Horton

From the creators of Fireproof comes an inspiring new story about everyday heroes who long to be the kinds of dads that make a lifelong impact on their children. As law enforcement officers, Adam Mitchell, Nathan Hayes, and their partners willingly stand up to the worst the world can offer. Yet at the end of the day, they face a challenge that none of them are truly prepared to tackle: fatherhood. While they consistently give their best on the job, good enough seems to be all they can muster as dads. But they’re quickly discovering that their standard is missing the mark.
They know that God desires to turn the hearts of fathers to their children, but their children are beginning to drift ! farther and farther away from them. Will they be able to find a way to serve and protect those who are most dear to them? When tragedy hits home, these men are left wrestling with their hopes, their fears, their faith, and their fathering. Can a newfound urgency help these dads draw closer to God . . . and to their children?

In the new film COURAGEOUS (from the makers of Fireproof), four police officers are confident and focused when it comes to facing danger on the job. But leading their families at home in a God-honoring way? That takes courage.

Because it is important to take a faithful, fearless stand in so many areas of life, pastor and COURAGEOUS executive producer Michael Catt offers Courageous Living as a closer look at biblical themes and characters that inspired the greatly anticipated movie.

Catt brings fresh insight to "stories of people in the Bible who displayed great courage when it would have been easier to play it safe... (who) ch! allenge me to keep moving forward. They demand that I examine ! my prior ities and deal with anything that brings fear to my heart."

Readers will catch a new wind of bravery in the bold accounts of Abraham ("The Courage to Get Going"), Nehemiah ("The Courage to Face Criticism"), and Ruth ("The Courage to Face an Uncertain Future"). There are also growth opportunities in the stirring stories of Moses, Elijah, Joshua, Daniel, Gideon, Nehemiah, Stephen, and Paul and Timothy.

After police officer Mac McDonald loses his son in an accident, years of bitterness and pain erodes his love for his family and leaves him angry with God … and everyone else. Can Mac and his new patrol partner, Sgt. Sam Wright, somehow join forces to help one another when it’s impossible to look past their differencesâ€"especially the most obvious one? Every day, we have the opportunity to rebuild relationships and heal wounds by extending and receiving God’s grace. Offer The Grace Card … and never underestimate the power of God’s love. The Grace ! Card stars Michael Joiner, Michael Higgenbottom and Academy Award Winner, Louis Gossett Jr.A Christian film about grace and forgiveness, The Grace Card tackles prejudice, loss, and grief. The death of a child 17 years ago filled Mac's heart with anger and bigotry and crippled his relationship with his wife and youngest son. In his job as a policeman, he's paired up with Sam, a black officer who's also a part-time preacher and whom Mac dislikes intensely. Sam has also just received the promotion Mac thinks he deserved himself. The difficult partnership affects each man and his family in very different and significant ways. Sam struggles with the conflict between his desire as a minister to love and accept everyone, and his intense feelings of anger and even hate toward his fellow officer. That struggle almost turns him away from his calling as a preacher. A crisis on the job threatens to decimate what's left of Mac's family and brings the conflict between Mac and ! Sam to a climax. Just when the situation looks like it might d! estroy b oth men, a few well-chosen words and a seeming coincidence reveal that God has made Sam's and Mac's paths cross for a reason. What's more, their interaction with one another causes both men to experience a personal and spiritual growth that neither could have anticipated. The expressions of bigotry in the film are hard to stomach, the sermonizing may be off-putting to some, and the events are sometimes quite predictable, but the portrayal of a city torn in half by racial prejudice is compelling and the message that forgiveness, rather than justice, offers the best solution is certainly worth considering. --Tami Horiuchi
“A man cannot be passive about what Scripture tells him to do for his family and expect to be found faithful to God in the end. He must see with spiritual eyes and realize that future generations are directly impacted by his daily decisions.”

Written in partnership with Sherwood Pictures' upcoming film, COURAGEOUS, in The Resolution for Women, popular speaker and author Priscilla Shirer challenges all women to be intentional about embracing and thriving in God’s beautiful and eternal calling on their lives.

Like the men in the movie who resolve to fully accept their responsibilities before God, Shirer explains how today's women can and should live out their own resolution. It is "a defining banner that hangs over your life, written in the ink of your own choices." A woman's banner should be an accurate reflection of who she desires to be-someone completely Christ-centered who blesses and changes things in her world for the better.

The Resolution for Women inspires women with intentional, spirit-filled living from three unique angles. Section one, entitled, "This Is Who I Am," helps ! a woman define herself as "authentically me, purposefully femi! nine, su rprisingly satisfied, and faithfully His." Section two, "This Is What I Have," invites her to value "my best, my blessing, my honor, and my heart." And Section three, "This Is What Matters To Me," focuses on joyfully honoring God as a wife, mother, and family member while resolving to live with the grace that leaves a godly legacy. The Resolution for Women is designed to inspire a revolution.
